November 16th/November 17th 2008    We observe meteors

The Meteor-Shower Students expedition is organized. We will meet in the Planetarium at 9:00 pm November 16th and we will go out of Cleveland. At a very good observational place (few miles from Cleveland) we will observe November meteors: one of the most famous meteors group in the year: Leonids. We expect to come back to the Planetarium around 1:30 am November 17th. Everybody is invited to take part in our expedition. (See please: Important Links → Meteors).

What happened?

The DSU students were meteor hunters last Sunday, November 16th. We were observing the Leonids Meteor Shower outside of Cleveland, MS. We counted 11 meteors and we also observed the sky with the telescope. We saw the Orion nebula, Pleiades, Albireo, the brightest star in our northern sky: Sirius and we saw some details on the Moon's surface. It was really very exciting and educational adventure.
